Shrimps!

Hey! long time no posting...

like veeery long time :P

Anyway! Quetzalcoatl is hungry again so it's time for new post ;)

Topic for today is shrimps!

I had an official dinner in our job which took place in Kogel Mogel.
It's the second time I was there... It's a nice place but their offer is quite heavy and meaty... and fried.

Anyway, as a strater I was eating shrimps.

Well... display was not the finest but the food was really nice...
To the point I've decided to eat some more shrimps ;)

My attempt!

Shrimps simmered in roasted cashew nuts and garlic, additionally, rice, sweet corn and zucchini~

Very quick and easy dish to make... though I think not my best...

Next time I'll make tempura! Ha!

And a couple of additional pics as we have 06.12 (Mikołajki) today :D

PS. Cracow looks ugly in December :/

Quetzalcoatl conquers asian food in Ireland

Quaetzalcoatl paid a visit to Ireland and made small raids to their restaurants with asian foodie ;)

In Cork I went to one of those small chinese restaurants (forgot the same of it damn somewhere on Washington street)... What made me decide to chose that place was that it was crowded with people (of any nationality)... that must have mean food is good.

I've waited a looong time form my course but then tada~
seafood udon noodle soup @___@

In Limerick I've found a japanese restaurant with cute japanese maids :) A place was called Taikichi  (in a very  city centre)

I've ordered Tendon
 So delicious :O
And the place itself:

In both places you get a meal for 10 euro (approx 40zł) which is cheap, if you realise how big the protions are served :O

And to end this post, my own attempt
Soba noodle soup with turkey fillet, green bean, carrots and egg

Om nom nom nom ;>

Gunkan maki and miso

So I'm once again preparing some crazy food and again it's because I've watched new episode of Hanni...

*dramatic whisper* It's all Hannibal's fault~

Ok ok... this time I was inspired by watching:
So my own attempt to gunkan :)

In the foreground - miso soup with egg and mozarella (because why the Hell not? and - a fun fact - it's easier to buy mozarella in Poland than tofu =____= )

Now gunkan maki
My ingredients:
cucumber, smoked loin (seriously taste so good in sushi *__* ), avocado, corn with mayonnaise, spring onions and chilli (orange one... had a pretty color)
And two onigiri, becase I've lost all the patience to make gunkan at some point :D

Yes! Food is great...

Feast! omn nom nom...

Yay! New culinary banner ~

Anyway, I just want to show off with my yesterday's lunch...

It's all because off Hannibal TV- series
Especially with season 2 and their episode's titles taken from japanese cuisine.
And it's kind of unsettling but while watching this show you always want to taste those glorious dishes even though you are aware what they are made of...
So yeah!

So let me share with you a couple of thoughts on this:

From right:
-soy sauce with rice vinegar, sugar and garlic
-sliced ginger with lemon juice, sugar and salt
-radishes with lemon juice, sugar and a little bit of salt (I'm proud of this actually, the vivid sweet-sour taste with spicy sharpness mmmm~)
Prawn tempura! Oh yes... covered with batter and breadcrumbs. The fantastic combination of crounchy outside and soft prawn meat... truly saku-saku

Finally - sushi! Quite unorthodox  - with smoked loin and yellow cheese, also egg, lettuce, cucumber, radishes and Mun mushrooms. That was too much of food so I gave half of it to my friends :)

To prepare that it took me more than two hours, to eat - less than 15 minutes...

Damn you Hannibal it's all your fault! :D

Splash!

First you have this idea in your head that you cannot get rid of...

Then you try to make a plan ;)
Now gather the necessary materials.

Let's get to work! Build the basis... the workframe.
Start filling in with the scales ;)
Almost... just a bit more...

And done! :D

Did I mention this is a lantern? :P

Btw. My mum asked if I have some obsession with fish XD
Next time I'll go for a dragon :F

What a weekend :O

Oh! what a weekend I had :D After a very busy week (loads of courses and assessments at work) I didn't had time to relax cuz I had to prepare myself for my final-final exam of my master's degree studies.
And what I did instead of studying?
I went to the convention Balcon Animachina in Bytom :D
It was really awesome.
I had a chance meet with people I haven't seen for ages *_*
I won this lovely mug with Neil Cafrey (Mat Bomer) and some badges :D

And wow... coming there was crazy but I'm not regretting it.. not at all :>
Thank you people for being there :)
Otai, Riw, Exia, Ada, Czechu, Avik, Eri, Jenny the Second... and othaer people I forgot XDD'''
I love you all~

And by the way, I passed that exam with 5 mark :D

Second day of my new life...

I think now, after signing a contract and fulfilling all that weird paperwork I can now safely and proudly state: I've got a full time job! *____*
I'm soo friggin happy... After all those failed interviews I though I'd never ever be given such chance, but suddenly (and kind of spontaneously) I received a call with a job proposal... WOW... really :D

I'm on a probationary period working for Heineken GSS :> I will be working in a financial departament... and I'm in an Ireland group (meaning I'll be in charge of some of financial operations for that country)... kind of cool... kind of boring, such as life :P

Anyway, from monday I have started my new Corpo-life. I need to get used to daily 8-hr routine, and somehow made my concentration time longer ... I need to modify my wardrobe a bit (but not dramatically... thank God :P)...
OK... in truth I'm really excited, and the inly thing that annoys me is that there is a poor cafeteria there... like 13zł for a second dish made of dry meat with dried rice and a tiny bit of salad...
I'm way to good at cooking to accept that so I'll probalby develop some new skills at making bento xD
So stay tuned for my Corpo-bento pics :P

Oh, and soon I'll go back to drawing comics... I really need to draw something... :P

What you do when you have no time...

I wish I was back in high school. Even if I didn't had enourmous amounts of free time but at least everything was scheduled and predictable...

Well, right now I know that soon I'll have my summer exam session... and I'll have to finish my diploma project... and take my final exam for a master's degree... and never forget to find some job (grrrrr).
But apart from the first one I have no idea when will the following events come.

Seriously, it's so frustrating...
So in order to relieve my stress I do random things, like:

1) creating comic/game concepts
2) read books/magazines
3) make jewellery for mother's day (forgot to make pic, sorry :P)
4) make a lamp....
yep...
400 can tabs later :P
5) finally, you can express yourself by cooking something fancy... but I'll leave that for my next note ;>

Some random thoughts about my life

Although I wished as hard as I could, this moment had to come to my life. I am in search for a job. I'm too old to pretend I can still be a student. I cannot fool myself and have to take this one giant step forward in my life towards stabilisation... only that I can't... because looking for a job is a bitch...

Here are some of my thoughts on how easy is to find a job in Poland:

There was a news article recently in one of news stations about unemplyment among fresh university graduates. A journalist asked some emplyers why aren't they giving any jobs to young people. They answered quite frankly, that young people have no working experience (obvious, up till now they've been studying, right?). Young people lack discipline (like... what? what do they mean? Do fresh graduates dare to have their own opinions? Do they dare to refuse working overtime without getting any pay for that?! Preposterous!) And finally, young people want to receive a couple of thousands of PLN payment (3000PLN is less than 1000 EUR, it's even less than 1000 USD! and usually graduates ask for 2000PLN).
I take this whole explanation as bullshit. It is an example of how deep this economic crisis is right now. It shows how full of themselves employers are, and how small can unemplyed expect.

I'm soon to graduate my fourth faculty (seriously! two bachelor's degrees, two master's). I have some working experience (maybe not full time, but those are quite decent examples of traineeships, practices and so on). My CV looks quite nice with a fine proper lenght, and gives this cool notion that I didn't waste my time entirely in my life (I'll never admit that I'm fooling myself with this line here :P). If someone asks me if it helps finding a good job I would answer: definitely not!
Why you ask? Because emplyers are not looking for "people", they're looking for "sheep"... really, brainless slaves that would willingly work 24 hours a day with 100% concentration on boring activities. At least that's what I assume from all those questions I've been asked during interviews.

Ah, yes! Interviews. Why does it always look different than how you imagine it?
That's a rethorical question actually.

Here is my short summary of how I see them.

If you see a bit of bitterness in my thoughts, than you are quite right. And it's all because I'm not making things up. It really happend to me... more than once :<

The only thing you can be sure of during job's interview is there are weird questions involved. To some of them it doesn't even matter what you anwer, because whatever you say would be wrong. To most of them you have to lie because noone sane would agree to the expected statements... Ah well, here are some questions I'm never sure how to answer correctly:
1) What are your salary expectations? (Jakie są twoje oczekiwania finansowe?)
As in above.... if you say less than 2000PLN than you'd have some serious problems to survive till next month! If you wish for more than that "you are expecting too much"... I've decided to never answer to that question from now on. It's me who wants to know their offer >:[
2) What do you know about our company? (Co może nam pani powiedzieć o naszej firmie?)
You can be 100% sure you'll be asked about that... And why asking that? Do they want to know whether I did my homework and know anything about them? Also, you have to talk in superlatives about them. I wonder how'd interviewers react if I said "Ah, yes! I've checked your financial statements, and last year you were below BEP. That's quite unfortunate. Plus, I've read someone filed a lawsuit against you for money laundering..."
3) Why do you want to work in our company? (Dlaczego chce pani pracować w naszej firmie?)
Because I want to find a job? Most obvious answer but you can never say that.... and you have to beat around the bush about self development and self fulfillment...
4) What are negative aspects of your personality? (Jakie są pani złe cechy charakteru?)
Any guidebook will advise you to be honest about this matter. But if they ever learned about your "dark side" they would never give you this job... maybe they would even make a quick call while smiling at you nervously... no seriously... you never say truth here.
5) Name your one greatest achievement. (Jakie jest pani jedno największe osiągnięcie?)
Only one? And what would that be? Reaching lvl 80 in MMO wouldn't probably be a good answer... In my case neither would be managing to draw +200 of comic pages...
6) Could you concentrete on your work 24 hours a day? (Czy potrafi sie pani skoncentrować na pracy 24 godziny na dobę?)
This question is a real bitch! It means "You will be working here all day long but we won't pay you for overtime." And answering "no" is an instant rejection to your application... In my case it turned out that you cannot turn this question into a joke... No one laughed >.>
7) How do you see yourself in a 5 years time? (Jak wobraża sobie pani siebie za 5 lat?)
Another masked question. With this technique interviewers want to know if you're planning a family, because, you know... every emplyer hates young mothers. They are on maternity leave, and they keep talking about their offspring, and they loose their sex appeal...
If anyone asks you that question, I tell you, answer them "I see myself with some fancy beard"... or tell them "I will be a Queen of Evil and I'l have my own young and handsome employees to molest..."
No! Wait... we've already agreed we never say truth... :P

And to end all this blabbering. Some examples of my interviews:

Inteviewer: So, could you describe how you worked as a teacher?
Me: That was a very valuable experience... bla bla bla... but in the end children told me that they feel pity for my future pupils because I'm a very strict teacher, so I'm probably not cut out to be one.
Interviewer: ... oh... (longer silence)

Interviewer: So how do you describe yourself in the future... How do you see your career?
Me: Of course, I would be reaching higher and higher!
(another long pause)

Interviewer: Um... So what can you tell me about teamwork...
Me: Yes, I'm usually playing a role of a coordinator. People ask me for some advises, I coordinate them. (read: lead them)
Interviewer: And when someone else is a leader? What did you do when you had a conflict?
Me: There has never been any conflict.
Interviewer: Um... Imagine, what would you do then?
Me: I would ask for reasons and logical arguments. I believe that everything can be solved through dialogue and negotiations. I don't believe someone wouldn't agree to logical arguments. (read: noone would win with me on arguments)

And so I'm forced to continue my quest of looking for any job...

Winter session, new phone and general lack of time

Hello everyone,
It's been way to much time since I last wrote something... here or anywhere else...

I'm a completely disorganized person, shame to admit :/
Aaaarghhh...

I've managed to update my Vermilion 4/Cynobrowa 4 comic... next update should be... in February I guess...
All thanks to winter exam session~ right now I'm constantly stressed out and busy with learning... and ranting how I'm tired of that XD
Just the usual state of every student at such time.

Ah! I've finally bought a new phone! I'm so happy ^^
To tell you the truth I was looking for a good model for more than a year O_o... Seriously... I know myself it's weird. I just couldn't decide.
Eventually, after a couple of battles of will and fate... I've chosen the LG model~
It's my first smartphone, and I'm obviously failing to work with it properly :D

I've named my phone Judging U (because if my phone had an AI it would certainly be looking down on me and giving me sarcastic remarks XD)

And here's a pic of  a cake we've made with jenny yesterday... om nom nom nom...

Now back to studying =.=

Vermilion 4 update!

Yeah! So I've finally made it... and update XD
I know I'm hopeless when it comes to systematic updates and constant work on one thing. My brain probably swings in moods like a sinusoid. One day I'm so concentrated on this, the following week I'm feeling like this is pointless and useless... and so I wait for that "work on this" time to come back.

And another thing is that I'm making 2 language versions so it doubles the efforts with edition. But I know there are lot's of Polish readers, who want to read in their mother tongue... and English is essential for all other people... So even if this is kind of annoying I'll continue with 2 versions :>

But in general I really want to continue drawing this comic and present the whole story. Damn...
Anyway! With this update we have a little backstroy of Kadabra's family. They're certainly a bunch of interesting people ;)
Like their great grandma Louise (Ludwika)
Btw. I wrote she was into contract bridge. I know there should be four players... I was to lazy to draw so many lads XDDD
Oh! And uncle Christopher is a character who'll certainly show again in later story!
And it's no secret I have always problem with thinking of names... so I asked jenny (aka. DJ burakku) for a random name XD... so if it comes to so questions "why would you do that???" that it's not my fault O_O
Mom is leaving:

So I'm almost done with all the basic explanations in the story and soon I'll be able to move on with story ... and action...

Stay tuned! And please be patient with me for I'm hopeless :<

You can find comics on my smackjeeves!
ENGLISH version Vermilion 4
POLISH version Cynobrowa 4
And of course on my Deviantart

Autumn candle lantern

Hello everyone :)

Autumn is that specific period of time when, apart from having depresive thoughts about cold and rain, you have this need for handicrafts. Normal people would start knitting or sewing or... OK maybe they'd do nothing :P. Aaanyway, I had to come up with something weirder. So I've made a candle lantern out of one aluminium can, couple dozens of can tabs and copper wire :>

I'm not going to say it's by any chance original. I dare say artisan made of can tabs is kind of fashionable now. If you check internet you'll find lot's of pictures of bags, jewellery, or even corsets, chairs etc.

My lantern is rather simple, and crappily made... and lacks symmetry... but it's mine so I'm proud of it anyway :D

And how gorgeous it looks when a candle is lit! :3

If you wish to see more pictures, I've made an gallery folder on my G+

Probably, I'll make some more lanterns and earrings out of can tabs :) That's because when you start collecting them, each day you can get a new one... or a couple of... or a frikin dozen (especially after some partying with friends XD). And eventually you just have to do something with them...  maybe something more creative than throwing them away...

PS.
I just have to write it down XD Yesterday, during financial analysis classess we were working in groups. The unlucky me was sitting at the corner of a row and my lecturer could look into my notes. And then...
He: "Um... you have some interesting things drawn here.. what is it... a head? Are my lectures that boring?"
Me: "Ah! It's nothing..." (I've drawn a nekad chick there) _^_
